I have been a horrible blogger. Yes! It’s true. You don’t
have to fain surprise with me. I can handle the truth. (A nod to my man Jack.)
No excuses. Even with all the papers and projects, all the class prep and
grading, all the trips up and down I-45, I could have found the time to
check-in now and again. I’ve been taking the lazy way out and posting on
Facebook, and not even a lot of that. (That was for you, Laurie.)
So, what’s been up? My blood pressure, probably. But it’s
starting to return to normal. You do realize I haven’t actually checked it. I
just feel less stressed today, so naturally one can fill in the blank.

| Decided to put on the Ritz. |
I have a couple things to share:
First, I am starting a campaign to save the United States
Postal Service. In my youth (That was only a couple months ago, right?), I was
an avid letter writer and sender of humor cards. Back when I had free time (Who
knows what that is, anymore?), I would peruse the card shops and shops that
just happened to have cards, never looking for anything in particular, but
always finding something fitting for friends and family. It (perusing card
shops) can be quite entertaining, actually. I miss that small bit of
entertainment.
And I miss sending cards and letters. Letter writing is
sexy. It is cathartic. And I don’t know about you, but I would really like to
see something other than a bill or junk mail in my mailbox for a change. No
wonder the USPS is going under. Who wants to support something that only brings
them bad news?
So, it is time for a return to fun mail. I intend to start
writing and sending cards again. If your mailbox would like to receive an
occasional card or letter that is not about what you owe some conglomerate or
what you need to buy so you can be just like everyone else on your block,
forward me your box’s number. It may take me a while to get around to everyone,
but I promise, the pen is mightier than the… (I got nothing). You thought I was
going to come up with something brilliant there, didn’t you? Next time.
What was the second thing? Oh, yeah! I have been going
through boxes, trying to get organized, and to empty out one of the two
climate-controlled storage spaces my husband is paying for. We were only
supposed to put my artwork in one space, but – well, you know how things can
get out of hand. Anywho, I have been finding old pictures (she says with a
twinkle in her eye). I know some folks get offended when you put up their old
photos on Facebook. But I still intend to share. So, to do both, I will post
the how-could-anyone-ever-be-offended ones to FB, and the semi-questionable
ones here.

| My favorite pic of me and Stevie. |
 |
| Stevie, who dem womens? |
 |
| OoO. Explain that to the wifey. |
Just as a side note: don’t be surprised if some of these
images find their way into my artwork, someday. I’m just saying. The wheels
have been turning.

| Oh, the 80s. |
So, this first batch is from the early 80s. I have to do
some research to discover the exact year. But this was my last Christmas party
in Coronado. Actually, this is the party after the party. We had gone to the
“Company” Christmas party and behaved quite well in front of all the officers,
but later…

| I wonder where Coco is now. |

| Maria and Katrina loving Johnboy. |
And these are harmless, right? I must admit, there are more,
and thankfully, most are out of focus.
